FOCUS The focus of Game Plan Ministries, presented through clinics, seminars, power lunches, church settings or "team" talks, is to encourage people to develop a solid “Game Plan.” Weaving in stories from his 40 year career, Bliss's message is powerfully delivered, as he shares how his life and new ministry have been shaped through life’s trials and God’s grace and faithfulness. No matter your topic or need, Bliss creates hope and direction, as he deals with the aspects of pride, ambition and priority in today's fast-paced world.
Game Plan Ministries is a non-profit organization created by Coach Dave Bliss as an outreach of encouragement and support to all people, especially coaches, businessmen, student-athletes, and administrators.
Let Dave and his experiences help you and your "team" with:
1. Overcoming Difficult Situations
2. Emphasizing Integrity and Character
3. Establishing Priorities
4. Making Second half Adjustments
5. Finishing Strong - Win the Big Game
An experienced and energetic communicator and motivator, Bliss was involved in Division One college basketball for over forty years, as both a player and a coach. His last 28 years he served as Head Coach at the University of Oklahoma, Southern Methodist University, University of New Mexico and Baylor University.
Despite considerable success at each institution, Bliss confessed in the summer of 2003 to committing several NCAA violations and resigned his position. After a period of four years, during which Bliss disappeared from the public scene, he was invited to address the prestigious Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Texas. Since then, Bliss has been asked to share his journey with men’s groups, university groups, churches, high school organizations and numerous teams throughout the country, including addressing the coaches at the 2008 San Antonio Final Four and the 2009 Texas High School Coaches Association.
In 2010, Allen Academy (Bryan, TX) hired Bliss as A.D., Dean of Students and Basketball Coach at the oldest College Prep school (125 yrs) in Texas. Although his first year ended with the basketball team's first state championship (2A T*CAL), Bliss enjoyed his role as Dean of Students equally as much.
